Watch ifilm's exclusive report on the Iranian film 'Slaughterhouse' directed by Asghar Nasiri, starring Nima Shahrokh-Shahi.
Below are the highlights of the report.
Asghar Naseri, Director: At times, some families deal with some issues and problems. These problems would come up because they didn’t pay enough attention to what was happening in their married life. Some of these issues would lead to divorce. Also some strange tensions exist in some marriages and if these tensions are handled well, they won’t cause any problems.
While we were searching for a theme, for our movie about families, we would ask them about their problems and the reasons behind them and they would explain their stories to us. A lady told me a story and it was very interesting to me.
Her marriage was falling apart. But in the film, we detailed it in a different way. We wanted to give a warning to families and to newly-wed couples that they should keep their vows; they should be devoted to each other. If they promise something to their partner, they have to keep their word. And if they don’t, we can’t expect anything from either the wife or the husband.
Nima Shahrokh-Shahi, actor: This was the first time I worked with Mr. Nasiri. After I read the screenplay, I thought it was really good. You know when there is a good screenplay; half of the work goes ahead smoothly. We talked to each other during several sessions, we discussed the character of Arash and we agreed on some points. I think it happened during our first talks. I knew what I wanted, how far I wanted to go, how I wanted to proceed according to the screenplay because it’s a different screenplay; you can’t guess what’s going to happen in the end. It’s very interesting.
I think it’s a movie that will make you sit tight for ninety minutes and follow the story to the end and it shocks you. I think it’s a very high quality and interesting movie.
