Calcutta festival names Iran doc ‘The Last Supper’ as best film

Iranian documentary ‘The Last Supper’ wins award at the Calcutta Int'l Cult Film Festival in India.

Iranian documentary ‘The Last Supper’ has won award at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival (CICFF) in India.

Directed by Mohammad Qane-Fard, the film was selected as the best documentary film at the Indian monthly festival.

‘The Last Supper’, narrating the miseries of Christians in Syria following the outbreak of deadly violence and crisis in the Arab country, competed with films from Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia and the US.

The film particularly focuses on the area of Jaramana in Damascus and Christian historical village of Ma'loula, near Damascus in Syria.

Calcutta International Cult Film Festival is an official member of the British Film Institute, in London, and of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, in New York.

CICFF is a monthly live screening film festival with an annual live screening mega event in the City of Joy scheduled this year for October 2017.
