iFilm English website invites you to take a listen to Persian musical instrument of Oud.

The solo piece of Oud has been performed by Shahram Gholami.

“Oud” literally meaning “from wood” in Arabic, is a short-neck lute-type, pear-shaped, fretless stringed instrument.

Similar to the lute in appearance, the oud is an 11 or 13-string pear-shaped wooden instrument.

The oud, as a fundamental difference from the western lute, has no frets and a smaller neck.
