Directors Guild of Iran honors 4 generations of directors

Directors Guild of Iran has honored 4 generations of directors on the ceremony of its 7th night.

The ceremony of the 7th night of Directors Guild of Iran was held at Mellat Cinema Complex on July 12 in attendance of actors, filmmakers, officials and other film industry crew.

Iranian director Masoud Kimiaee went on stage first to honor Sirous Alvand. Then Abolhassan Davoudi granted an award to Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, one of the most popular Iranian female directors.

Afterwards, the Iranian director Homayoun Asadian presented an award to Saman Moqaddam. The last filmmaker that was honored at the event was Kiumars Pourahmad who received his accolade from the acclaimed Iranian director Kianoush Ayyari.

Born in 1951, Alvand began his artistic activity by writing the movie ‘Meeting Point of Fury’ in 1971, continued in the field of screenwriting and then made his directorial debut in 1975.

He has written and directed several movies as well as TV series and received a Best Director Crystal Simorgh for his movie ‘Once and for All’ at the 11th edition of Fajr International Film Festival.

Davoudi is a graduate of the Advanced School of TV and Cinema and has a degree in Sociology from the Shahid Beheshti University and started his career as a film critic in 1986 and wrote the screenplay for Rasoul Sadr Ameli’s ‘Paeezan’ in the same year.

After establishing the Arta Film Editing office, he has written articles on cinema, served as the chairman of the House of Cinema board of directors, written and directed the many movies, as well as nominated and received a number of national and international awards.

Moqaddam studied Cinema in Iran’s Cinema Educational Complex and began his career as an assistant director on the movie ‘The Wolf's Trail’ directed by Kimiaee.

Iranian director, playwright, producer and editor Pourahmad studied Cinema Directing and began his television career as an assistant director in Nader Ebrahimi’s series ‘Fire without Smoke’ in 1974.

He entered film industry by writing the screenplay for a movie made by Mohsen Taqvaee and then directed some memorable movies and TV series. He won a Crystal Simorgh from the 14th Fajr Film Festival for directing ‘Strange Sisters’.
