Mobile cinema theaters travel to Iran’s southwest region

A mobile cinema trailer has made its way to underprivileged areas in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in southwestern part of Iran.

The Mobile Theater Trailer of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) visits underprivileged areas in three Iranian provinces every season.

The trailer has a stage of nearly 25 square meters and carries light and sound equipment that allows members of the theater group to perform dramatic works for children and teens.

The trailer has performed for children and youth since 1974.

It arrived in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province on July 11 and will perform in 16 villages by July 17.

The trailer performed in Qazvin and Isfahan before its arrival into Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. It stayed in each of the two provinces for a week and had 14 shows in each.

The theater group has been performing two famous classical stories in their newest program: ‘Reynard the Fox’ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

‘Reynard the Fox’ tells the story of Reynard – a sly, amoral, cowardly and self-seeking fox – whose cunning is a necessity for survival. He symbolizes the triumph of craft over brute strength, usually personified by the greedy and dull-witted wolf.

‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ tells the story of Jack, who is a young, poor boy living with his widowed mother. A gigantic beanstalk starts his adventure as Jack climbs it to a land high in the sky and finds an enormous castle where a giant keeps some treasures.

Apart from its regular program, the trailer also visits areas afflicted by natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
