‘Isatis’ to vie at Kazan filmfest in Russia

The Kazan Int'l Muslim Film Festival in Russia is to host Iranian doc ‘Isatis’.

The 2023 Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Russia has been slated to host Iranian documentary ‘Isatis’.

Produced and directed by Alireza Dehqan, the documentary is one of the ten works to compete at the Full-length Documentary Films section of the Russian event.

‘Isatis’ is a poetic documentary on a portion of Iran’s culture narrated by four elements of nature.

“A story of the hands of the people who turned soil into elixir... and reached from nonexistence to existence. An old story of the true value of water... A story of a town with all its vicissitudes that has been shining like agate in the heart of the dry and barren soil of the desert. A story of the kind dialogue between religions and the scent of faith narrated by water, wind, earth and fire”, a synopsis for the film reads.

The doc has already taken part in a number of global film events, including the Golden Tree International Documentary Festival in France, the Ocean City Film Festival in the US, and the RAM film festival in Italy.

Launched in 2005, the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival aims to provide a platform for those working in the field of culture and arts in Russia and Muslim countries to exchange their experiences, and aims to display the creative achievements of Muslim cinematographers, among others.

The motto of the Kazan festival is “To the dialogue of cultures through the culture of dialogue”.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for September 5-9, in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
