Iran holds from coffeehouse to Saqqakhaneh exhibition

Iranian paintings inspired by Islamic heroic stories have beautified the ambiance of old Saqqakhanehs and coffeehouses in the country.

This form of art, evolving throughout years, demonstrates the teachings and features of Islam that Muslims around the world are familiar with.

An exhibition of a selection of the works of modern Iranian artists, created with the curatorship of Mohammad-Ali Saeedi and the participation of the Association of Coffeehouse Painters, is being held in Tehran.

The exhibition, to run until August 14, aims to examine modernity in coffeehouse and Saqqakhaneh painting.
