Kharanaq historical castle; birthplace of the sun

The historical castle of Kharanaq with an area of ​​more than ten thousand square meters is located in Kharanaq Village near Shah Abbasi Caravanserai.

With an age of 4500 years, the castle has been registered on the national heritage list of Iran.

In the local language of Yazd, Kharanaq means the birthplace of the sun.

This historical castle has 80 houses, six watchtowers and four gates, and it is considered as one of the few castles in the world hosting two and three story houses.
