Arasbaran forests are among the most spectacular and dreamy places in northwest of Iran.

The forests attract many tourists from across the country and around the world each year.

Arasbaran is a high mountainous region that lies in East Azarbaijan Province. The region is famous for its diverse landscapes, pristine nature, and historical attractions.

The Arasbaran vegetation is of particular importance among the vegetation in other parts of the country due to its uniqueness.

Arasbaran is also habitat for 48 mammal species, 215 bird species, 29 creeper species, five amphibian species, and 17 fish species.

The region is designated by the UNESCO as a biosphere reserve, or “a learning place for sustainable development”.

Biosphere reserves are sites for testing approaches on how to manage changes and interactions between social and ecological systems.
