Russian Filmfest to Screen ‘Papeli’

Russian Film Festival screens Iranian documentary ‘Papeli’

Iranian documentary 'Papeli' is scheduled to go on screen at Kazan Film Festival in Russia.

‘Papeli’, directed by Mahdi Zamanpour Kiasari has been admitted to the main section in the 13th edition of Kazan filmfest.

The word "Papeli", in Mazandarani language, spoken in a Northern Iranian province, means butterfly.

The movie highlights a period of time in the life of a family in the North of Iran when some 25 years ago the father of the family fell down from a tree and cut off his spinal cord. He had climbed the tree to pick up foliage for his livestock, but the tragic incident occured and his family has been taking care of him throughout all the years.

The festival is slated for September 5-11, 2017 in Kazan, the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Kazan Film Festival screens competing movies from 21 countries that are members to the Group of Strategic Vision of "Russia-Islamic world", including Iran.

The festival screens movie products which promote peaceful ideas, humanity and intercultural dialogue.
