Iran to name street after ‘Down and Out’ actor Ali Soleymani

A street in Tehran is to be named after the late actor Ali Soleymani.

A street in the center of Iran’s capital, Tehran, is to be named after the late actor Ali Soleymani.

Members of the Tehran City Islamic Council approved a proposal to change the name of Pashan Street into Ali Soleymani during a session on Tuesday.

That came few days after the second death anniversary of Soleymani who died of coronavirus.

The actor’s widow, Soheila Javadi, told ISNA News Agency on Thursday the street name sign will be changed in a special ceremony that will be attended by artists and officials.

She expressed her hope that the event will take place soon.

Pashan Street lies near the City Theater.

Soleymani was a prominent actor and filmmaker. He died of COVID-19 at the age of 50 on August 12, 2021.

You may know him for his roles in the movie ‘Down and Out’ and the series ‘The Enigma of the Shah' that were aired on iFilm English TV Channel.

He took part in various movies and TV series, including ‘Killing Dogs’, ‘Poisonous Mushroom’, ‘Story of Auntie Beetle’, ‘Kind Moon’, and ‘Amin and Mina’.
