The Farabi Cinema Foundation announced that the selection committee for Iran's Oscar submission chose Reza Mirkarimi's film as Iran's representative at the 2024 Academy Awards.

The movie delves into the challenging life of a rural worker striving to survive in the bustling Iranian capital, Tehran.

Mohsen Kiaee and Toraj Alvand co-star in the film that grabbed the Best Director Simorgh at the 40th edition of Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

Mirkarimi has won the Best Film award at the Fajr fest for his film 'So Close, So Far Away'.

Farabi Cinema Foundation is responsible for selecting Iran's Oscar entrants.

Over the years, Iran's cinema industry has thrived with accomplished Iranian filmmakers such as Asghar Farhadi receiving accolades worldwide.

Farhadi has emerged victorious not once, but twice in the highly coveted Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars for 'A Separation and 'The Salesman'.

The 96th Academy Awards is set to take place on March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in the US city of Los Angeles.
