A poor young man meets Fereshteh, a girl that belongs to a loaded family. Once he goes to their aristocratic house to propose to her and, contrary to his expectations, he sees his grandfather there. This encounter causes an incident that sends his grandfather to the hospital.

Rahman, who came to Tehran in pursuit of a better life from his village, is trying to get a decent job with the help of his friend Hossein. The simpleton young man falls into Fereydoun's trap and starts smuggling movies, but soon he is arrested by the police.

When the landlord of a busy apartment complex dies, his lack of apparent heir leaves the property up for grabs. As a result, Abbas, the overeager apartment manager, aims to secure his claim on the building by evicting all its residents and thereby cutting them out of contention. However, these renters prove wilier than Abbas expected, so he ups the ante by refusing to keep up the property. Soon the tenants take maintenance into their own hands with disastrous results.
