Born in November 1960 into a religious family in Mashhad, Raeisi's political activism began after the January 7, 1978 insult to Imam Khomeini, leading him to join protests, engage in revolutionary activities, and participate in key events like the clerics' sit-in at Tehran University.
Raeisi's management career began in 1980 when he was appointed District Attorney of Karaj and he became the city's attorney later.
In 1985, he assumed the role of Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran, marking the beginning of his judicial career in the capital.
From 1989 to 1994, Raeisi served as the first Deputy of the Judiciary in Tehran.
In 1994, he was appointed the head of the General Inspection Organization of Iran, a position he held until 2004.
Following that, he held the position of the first deputy of the Judiciary from 2004 to 2014, and he served as Iran's Attorney General from 2014 to March 2015.
In March 2016, Raeisi was appointed the custodian of Astan Quds Razavi by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Throughout his three-year tenure, he instituted substantial measures aimed at improving services at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
On March 7, 2019, Raeisi was appointed the head of the judiciary by Ayatollah Khamenei.
During this time, he significantly advanced judicial reform, tackling economic corruption and improving judicial efficiency, earning commendation from Ayatollah Khamenei.
Raeisi clinched more than 18 million votes in the June 2021 presidential election, ascending to the position of the 8th President of Iran.
In a tragic helicopter crash, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and some other officials lost their lives.
