Exploring Saba animations: ‘The Playful Clock’

‘The Playful Clock’, produced by the Saba Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is an enchanting stop-motion animation series designed to entertain and educate children about Iranian history and culture.  

Produced by Nader Yaqmaian and co-directed by Behrouz and Abtin Yaqmaian, this series stands out not only for its engaging storyline but also for its commitment to showing Iranian lifestyle and heritage.

Spanning 52 episodes, each 15 minutes long, ‘The Playful Clock’ follows the adventures of a young boy who discovers a magical clock in his grandmother's basement. This clock possesses the extraordinary ability to move time backward or forward, setting the stage for a series of exciting adventures.

“Our goal is to familiarize children with the history of artworks and help them recognize civilizational, social, and cultural identities,” explained producer Yaqmaian in an interview with Jam-e Jam TV.

As Yaqmaian remarked, "By setting our stories in historical spaces and using elements of Iranian architecture and interior decorations, we aim to reestablish a link with the practical role of these aspects in our civilization."

‘The Playful Clock’ is sure to be a hit among children and parents alike, offering a blend of fun, adventure, and education wrapped in the charm of stop-motion animation.
