TV productions to enrich Iranian small screen

Iranian television is gearing up for an eclectic lineup of series and diverse offerings.

1. New season of 'The Tales of Kamal' begins with 200 actor

The second season of the popular Iranian TV series ‘The Tales of Kamal’ has officially begun production, featuring a cast of 200 actors.

The series, known for its historical setting and comedic elements, is set to be filmed over five seasons, with each season consisting of 30 episodes.

The producer of the new season, Mahmoud Salamiyan, announced that the upcoming episodes will introduce fresh faces and incorporate more humor, promising a mix of new and unique storylines to entertain the audience.  

Salamiyan said to Tasnim New Agency that ‘The Tales of Kamal’ will continue to be set in the historical atmosphere of the 2000s, with the direction once again under the guidance of Qodratollah Solh Mirzaee, who directed the first season.

About 80% of the filming will take place in Ghazali Cinema Town, a popular location for historical TV and film productions in Iran.

The new season will mark the show's return to production after a six-year hiatus. It is anticipated to be completed by March or April of next year, after which the airing schedule will be determined.

Returning cast members Mahmoud Pakniyyat and Hamid Ebrahimi will reprise their roles, while several new actors, including Mir-Taher Mazloumi, Iraj Nozari, Jafar Dehqan, Afshin Sangchap, Pourandokht Mohaymen, Azita Torkashvand, and Solmaz Hesari, will join the ensemble cast.

2. ‘Day of Blood’ series on Shah Cheragh terrorist attack to air soon

The TV series ‘Day of Blood’, which focuses on the first terrorist attack at the Shah Cheragh Shrine, has completed post-production and will soon be broadcast on IRIB Channel 1.

According to producer Morteza Rezaee, the series was filmed in 75 locations, with the Shah Cheragh Shrine serving as one of the main settings.  

Rezaee said to IRNA that the series is expected to air alongside the National Congress of Commanders and 15,000 Martyrs of Fars Province, coinciding with the anniversary of the Shah Cheragh terrorist attack.  

The cast includes over 40 actors, featuring Hamid Ebrahimi, Ashkan Hourasan, Mohammad Fili, Azita Torkashvand, Hadiseh Tehrani, Alireza Mehran, and Behrouz Qaderi.

3. ‘Fatherland’ documentary series ready for broadcast  

The documentary TV series ‘Fatherland’, produced by Simafilm and directed by several renowned filmmakers and TV artists, is now ready for broadcast.

According to Tasnim News Agency, ‘Fatherland’ has been produced in 12 episodes, each 52 minutes long, at the request of Simafilm.  

Each episode features a well-known actor from cinema or television who takes the audience on a journey to their hometown, sharing personal memories, natural beauty, social life, and the significance of collective memories.

The first season of the documentary features Mahmoud Pakniyyat, Alireza Khamseh, Fariba Kosari, Maryam Saadat, Farhad Ayeesh, Maedeh Tahmasebi, Parviz Fallahipour, Masoud Foroutan, Reza Fayyazi, Jalil Farjad, Behzad Khodaveisi, Abdolreza Akbari, and Farhad Basharti.

Directors Babak Behdad, Mehdi Asadi, Mehdi Baqeri, Hadi Masoumdoust, Roya Nasiri, and Mehdi Jabinshenas have each contributed to directing different episodes of the series.

Mehdi Qorbanpour, one of the key figures behind the series, has a background in producing documentaries such as ‘We Are All Soldiers’, and ‘Where No One Is’, as well as TV series like ‘Celebrities of Iran’ and ‘Bread and Moon’. He has earned various awards at domestic and international festivals for his work.
