'Salman the Persian' progressing toward 2026 premiere

The historical series ‘Salman the Persian’, directed by Davoud Mirbaqeri, is progressing with a vast team of talent, according to producer Hossein Taheri.

Speaking to the public relations of IRIB, Taheri highlighted the participation of nearly 1,600 artists from across Iran, many of whom have been cultivated over the years. “These individuals represent the future of our country's film industry,” he said.

Taheri noted that the series has so far featured around 40 international actors and at least 60 prominent local talents. He emphasized that while significant progress has been made, “we still have a long way to go.”

The production is currently about 50% complete on its second season, which focuses on the Iranian period. Next, filming will shift to the Hijaz phase. Taheri reassured that the series remains on track to meet its scheduled release in 2026.

Peyman Jebeli, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), confirmed that ‘Salman the Persian’ is progressing according to plan, both financially and in terms of its production timeline.

Filming began in 2019, with the project set to span three parts and 60 episodes, chronicling the life of Salman al-Farsi, a revered companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The series will explore his experiences across three distinct historical settings: Sassanid Iran, the Byzantine Empire, and the Hijaz region during the early days of Islam.

The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Alireza Shoja-Nouri, Daryoush Farhang, Farhad Aslani, Majid Mozaffari, Ehteram Boroumand, Touraj Nasr, Mohammad Fili, Jafar Dehqan, Shokrokhda Goudarzi, Yousef Sayadi, Mostafa Tari, Houshang Abbasi, Ali Dehkordi, Mohammad-Reza Hedayati, Hessam Manzour, and Mehdi Faqih.
