During the Creative Industry Summit’s People’s Choice Ramadan Awards in Cairo on Monday, Omar accepted the award for Best Drama Actor and dedicated his victory to Palestine, chanting, “Long live Palestine. Long live the resistance”.
The Creative Industry Summit (C—S) started in 2014 as a platform to promote creativity in Egypt and the MENA region. Its People’s Choice Ramadan Awards honor exceptional work in TV series and advertisements during Ramadan.
Based on public voting, these awards allow people to choose their favorite actors, shows, and ads, celebrating the talent and creativity in the industry during this special month.
Earlier, at the Venice Film Festival, Omar showed his solidarity by wearing a pin of the Palestinian flag during the screening of his film ‘Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo’.
His subtle yet powerful gesture resonated deeply with attendees, further highlighting the importance of the Palestinian cause on an international stage.
The film has attracted significant interest, and Omar’s political statement has blended cinema with activism, reinforcing the impact of art in advocating for social justice.
