During the panel discussion titled “A Call for Humanity”, Cunningham criticized oversimplified narratives often portrayed in Western media, challenging claims that the violence began with the October 7th attacks.
He called this framing “a lie” and condemned its use to justify what international bodies are investigating as potential acts of genocide. “There is no excuse for genocide”, he declared emphatically.
Cunningham also drew attention to the interconnected nature of regional conflicts, questioning whether ceasefire calls are limited to Gaza or extend to violence in Syria, Lebanon, and beyond.
He stressed the growing global instability, likening the current tensions to precursors of a world war. “The fact that we even have to consider that possibility shows how dangerous the world has become”, he warned.
By amplifying the plight of Gaza and highlighting the complexities of Middle Eastern conflicts, Cunningham’s remarks underscored the need for a compassionate and informed global response.
His speech appeared as a call for justice and humanity amidst escalating crises.
