Palestine’s Oscar-shortlisted entry 'From Ground Zero' shows life in Gaza with acclaimed American filmmaker Michael Moore joining as an executive producer.
The film, curated by Rashid Masharawi, combines 22 short stories by Palestinian filmmakers.
It opened in the U.S. theaters on January 3, 2025, and is being considered for an Oscar in the Best International Feature category.
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Moore wrote online about the film, noting that the filmmakers used whatever cameras and tools they could find in their damaged cities to make 'From Ground Zero' a reality.
Stories in the film include animation, documentaries, and fictional pieces.
Masharawi also said to the media that an Oscar nomination would be significant for the Palestinian filmmakers who created their stories during Israel's genocide in Gaza.
