Bollywood 'Tehran' may tune into OTT

Indian Bollywood action star John Abraham’s latest thriller, 'Tehran' is expected to skip a traditional theatrical release and premiere directly on the streaming platform Zee5.

While an official announcement is still awaited, industry reports suggest the OTT release of 'Tehran' by Arun Gopalan could happen as early as August 15, with the exact date to be finalized within the next week to ten days.

A source close to the production team of the flick explained the reasoning behind this move, “'Tehran' is a no-nonsense geopolitical thriller and made on the lines of an international film. It has a run time of less than two hours and moreover, it's not just a Hindi language film. To maintain authenticity, certain dialogues are also in Farsi and English. Hence, the makers realized that it would suit the OTT medium more.”

Produced by Maddock Films—well-known for Bollywood blockbusters—the film features John Abraham alongside Manushi Chhillar and Neeru Bajwa. 

If 'Tehran' officially premieres on OTT, it will mark John Abraham’s first film to bypass theaters entirely and go straight to streaming.
