At today’s press briefing of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, a Chinese journalist draws attention by wearing a scarf featuring verses from poetry of Great Persian poet Abol-Qasem Ferdowsi.

The scarf featured verses from the Shahnameh in Persian calligraphy and integrated into its woven design.

The appearance of the Chinese reporter, who covered the event with the distinctive accessory, reflects cultural affinity between Iran and China.

Ferdowsi is celebrated as Iran’s national poet and the author of the Shahnameh (“The Book of Kings”), written in classical Persian.

He died around 1020 CE in his hometown of Tus and is buried there, at the site now known as the Ferdowsi Mausoleum.

It is a national monument in Razavi Khorasan Province visited by Iranians and admirers worldwide.
