Actress joins Iran national women’s boxing team

In a surprising crossover from cinema to sports, Iranian actress Tina Akhoundtabar has earned a place on the national women’s boxing team.

Competing in the 60‑kilogram weight category, she secured her spot after strong performances at the Women’s National Boxing Championship and Team Selection Tournament held at the Shahid Shiroudi Sports Complex in Tehran.

Akhoundtabar has a B.A. in Accounting. She participated in Samandarian’s acting classes and made her debut in Kazem Rastgoftar’s ‘Divorce Iranian Style’. 

She has appeared in 'Whatever God Wants', ‘The Wall’ and 'The Daughters of Eve'.
