Doc on Martyr Larijani in development

A long documentary themed on well-known Iranian politician Martyr Ali Larijani is in the making. 

Iranian filmmaker Aref Afshar is currently making the documentary about Martyr Larijani, one of the most prominent figures in Iranian politics and a symbol of moderation, rationality, and strategic profundity.

Shooting has already started and is still ongoing.

Afshar has recently finished another documentary about Ali-Akbar Nateq-Nouri, a former speaker of Iran's parliament.

The idea for this new documentary came from a longer interview Afshar had with Martyr Larijani just before the US-Israel aggression against Iran began in February 2026 .

Larijani was assassinated on March 17. He was targeted in a US-Israeli airstrike on a residential area in Tehran. 

The documentary explores different sides of Martyr Larijani’s personality, as well as his work in Iranian politics and culture.
