New doc honors Iranian women in war

Female Iranian director has made a new documentary themed on Iranian women’s role in war. 

The documentary “Asr-e Roshani,” directed by Masoumeh Kiani, focuses on the role of Iranian women during the US-Israel aggression against Iran.

Filming which began on March 1 in Tehran has wrapped, with editing underway.

Kiani said in a media interview that women’s contributions are often overlooked in war narratives.

She previously explored war’s impact on children and now highlights women’s efforts in cities, hospitals, and relief operations in her works such as 'The Last Scene'.

She noted that most war footage from the Iraq–Iran War was shot by men, making women’s roles less visible, adding, female filmmakers can offer a new perspective.
