Iran children's fest announces director

Iran's Cinema Organization has appointed the director for the 2026 International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults.

Raed Faridzadeh, head of the Cinema Organization, named Hamed Jafari to the role on May 26.

The festival is set to take place in September.

In the appointment letter, Faridzadeh said children's cinema is strategically important.

He said it helps pass on cultural identity, social hope, and national values to the next generation, calling children "the nation's most vital assets."

Established in 1982, the International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults is an annual film festival held in the historical Iranian city of Isfahan. The fest is organized by the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs, Farabi Cinema Foundation and the Municipality of Isfahan.
