‘Shahnameh’ multimedia concert on stage in Tehran

A multimedia concert based on Persian poet Ferdowsi's ‘Shahnameh’ has been staged at a cultural event in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The concert currently on stage at the Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran is being performed by classical vocalist and tonbak player Homayoun Shajarian, and composer Sohrab Pournazeri.

Titled ‘Si’, the concert is based on stories performed by Ferdowsi, including ‘Rostam and Esfandyar’, ‘Zal and Rudabeh’ and ‘Rostam and Sohrab’.

Completed in 1010, the ‘Shahnameh’ is an epic Persian poem of nearly 60,000 verses by great Iranian literary master Ferdowsi.
