Jerry Lewis, US legendary comedian and actor, has passed away in the US city of Las Vegas aged 91.
“He died of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas on Sunday morning,” his family said in a statement.
Childish revelation was a key element for his success. "I look at the world through a child's eyes because I'm nine. I stayed that way. I made a career out of it. It's a wonderful place to be," he told Reuters in a November 2002 interview.
Lewis became a star in 1950s. His partnership with Dean Martin made him gain a lot of success. Their decade-long partnership ended with a bitter split and Lewis went on to star in his own film comedies.
Lewis starred in more than 45 films in a career spanning five decades.
He was very popular in France, and was inducted into the Legion of Honour in 1984, the country's highest award.
He once summed up his career by saying: "I've had great success being a total idiot" and said the key was maintaining a certain childlike quality.
