Iran noted director Asghar Farhadi attended a panel discussion with Golden Globe nominees in the US.

Internationally acclaimed Iranian film maker Asghar Farhadi has attended a panel discussion in the US with filmmakers of the Golden Globe nominees.

Uploaded on americancinematheque.com, the event's video features the Iranian noted director as one of the picks for the Golden Globe nominees in the Best Foreign Language Film segment of the US event.

Farhadi appeared in the panel discussion along with a group of nominated directors for the latest edition of the Golden Globe awards.

“The time that cinemas give answers is over,” Farhadi said regarding the open ending of ‘The Salesman’ which was nominated for a Golden Globe award in 2017.

“The reaction of viewers whether in Iran and abroad to this movie has an interesting range,” Farhadi said, adding that ‘The Salesman’ offers a situation to viewers in which they experience a bifurcated path.

The family is being affected in the modern world, the director said, highlighting that the main concern in his cinematic works is family issues.

The film tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.

Farhdi's most famous movie, ‘A Separation’, grabbed global recognition, becoming the first Iranian movie to win an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

The panel discussion was co-presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the American Cinematheque.
