Kheirandish awarded ‘best actor’ at US fest

Iranian star Gohar Kheirandish has won the best actor award at the 13th edition of Action on Film International Film Festival for her role in 'House of the Other' by Behnoush Sadeqi.

The feature is a drama that chronicles the story of a man who decides to get back to his ancestral home to live his last years there.

Part of the film’s synopsis reads, a poor family, inundated with legal issues and an upcoming wedding, cares for their terminally ill landlord in exchange for rent free housing.

The Iranian star was unable to attend the closing ceremony of the 13th Action on Film International Film Festival due to a shooting schedule. In a message, she expressed thanks for the award, saying that she felt proud for having represented Iran successfully. Her daughter attended the festival venue and received the award for her mother.

Kheirandish has already won 6 awards at international festivals for ‘best actress’, ‘supporting actress’ and the like, and nominated in 5 others.

She has so far appeared or starred on 41 movies, 38 stage performances and 27 TV series.

The Action on Film International Film Festival, also known as the Action On Film Festival, was founded in 2004.
