Ammar fest to screen film for anti-British colonialism day in Iran

‘The Orphanage of Iran’ directed by Abolghasem Talebi is to go on screen at Ammar Popular Filmfest in honor of anti-British colonialism day in Iran.

‘The Orphanage of Iran’ directed and written by Abolghasem Talebi is to go on screen at Ammar Popular Filmfest in conjunction with National Day of Combat against British Colonialism in Iran.

The flick will be screened September 3 on the same day that marks Iran’s fight against the British colonialism and martyrdom anniv. of Iranian freedom fighter Rais Ali Delvari’ who rose against colonial dominance of Britain in the country.

‘Orphanage of Iran’ has won the award for the best work by the panel of judges of the 14th Resistance Film Festival. Besides, Aliram Nouraei, the film’s central character, has won the festival’s best actor’s award for his role in the movie.

The historical film focuses on the UK’s possible involvement in the mass-killing of Iranian population during WWI.

The cast of the film includes popular actors such as Aliram Nouraei, Farrokh Nemati, Jafar Dehqan, Bahar Mohammadpour, Ali Shademan and Melika Shaban.

Ammar fest enjoys an international version (AIPFF) which aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the AIPFF website read, adding the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together.”

Ammar International Popular Film Festival goes against promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.
