Iran movie ‘Abji’ to be screened at Pune Int’l Filmfest

Iranian film ‘Abji’ is to compete at Pune Int’l Film Festival in India.

Iranian director Marjan Ashrafizadeh’s 'Abji' (The Sis) has been scheduled to compete at the 15th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) in India.

Being Ashrafizadeh’s first feature film, the movie is to be displayed at the competition section of the event.

'Abji' narrates the story of two women who have lived together for more than 50 years, but the situation doesn’t remain the same and the separation time arrives.

The movie has received the best feature film award at the 4th edition of the Afghanistan International Women Film Festival.

The film, written by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, Ali Asghari and Nahid Tabatabai, deals with women issues and the difficulties that they face in life.

Golab Adineh, Masoumeh Ghasemipour, Pantea Panahiha, Hamidreza Azarang, Babak Hamidian and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh are the main stars of the movie.

Iranian filmmaker Narges Abyar (best known for ‘Track 143’) is on the jury panel at the Indian event.

‘Abji’ is also scheduled to go on screen at the competition section of Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, to be held on January 12-20, 2017.

The Pune International Film Festival was established in 2002. The aim was to attract the best in celluloid to the city.

Today PIFF is an important date on the calendar for filmmakers not only across Pune or India, but the globe.

The 15th edition of PIFF will be held on January 12-19, 2017, in India.
