Venice fest rolls out red carpet for Iran film ‘Disappearance’

Latest edition of Venice Film Festival in Italy has arranged a red carpet event for Iranian film ‘Disappearance’.

Venice Film Festival in Italy hosts a red carpet event at its latest run for Iranian film contender ‘Disappearance’.

The Iranian drama directed by Ali Asgari was presented at the  Venice Film Festival’s Horizons competition.

Penned by Asgari together with his writing partner Farnoosh Samadi, “Disappearance” tells the story of two young lovers, who, in the course of one cold night in Tehran, go from hospital to hospital in search of help. Soon they will have to face the tragic consequences of their youthful naivete.

Iranian actors Pedram Ansari, Sadaf Asgari, Mohammad Heidari, Amirreza Ranjbaran, Sahar Sotoudeh, and Nafiseh Zare have starred in ‘Disappearance’.

Asgari is an Iranian filmmaker who studied cinema in Italy. His short films ‘More than Two Hours’ (2013) and ‘The Silence’ (2016) were both in competition for the Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes.

Warsaw-based sales outlet New Europe Film Sales has signed a world sales deal for the film.

The 74th edition of the Venice International Film Festival was held on August 30 to September 9, 2017.
