Iconic action film star Liam Neeson has announced his highly likely retirement from the action film genre.

During an interview at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada on Tuesday, the 65-year-old Irish actor cited his age as the main issue that prevents him from taking on further roles in action-packed films.

This comes as Neeson will continue playing characters in non-action films with an upcoming role in Steve McQueen’s production ‘Widows’.

The acting powerhouse rose to prominence with his critically acclaimed performance in Steven Speilberg’s ‘Schindler’s List’.

His other noteworthy acts include roles in ‘Star Wars: Episode 1’, ‘Taken’, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘Gangs of New York’, ‘The A-Team’ and ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, among others.

Neeson’s ‘There Will Be Blood’ costar, British actor Daniel-Day Lewis made a shockingly similar announcement in June when he stated he was altogether retiring from acting.
