3 donkeys star in movies screened at Shabdiz Film Festival

Three donkeys star in movies screened at Shabdiz Film Festival in Kermanshah, Iran.

Three donkeys have starred in several movies screened at Shabdiz Film Festival in Kermanshah, Iran.

The 57th edition of the Shabdiz Film Festival was recently held at a regional event in Iran’s Kermanshah Province.

The festival screened 83 films, including animations, feature films, documentaries and experimental films.

A number of the movies screened at the event were chronicling the stories of donkeys.

The main characters of ‘Ataqi Li Kishi’ by Amir Golshani, ‘Cesarean’ by Omid Vafaei, and ‘The Lonely Donkey’ by Mehdi Hassani-Jalilian are donkeys.

The 12-minute ‘Ataqi Li Kishi’ is about a filmmaking team which attempts to direct a donkey to perform the role the director needs; no doubt they can’t and the donkey wins!

The 22-minute ‘Cesarean’ is about the transubstantiation of a man to a donkey. The film, starring 40 donkeys, tries to draw an ambiguous line between reality and nightmare.

‘The Lonely Donkey’ is a 23-minute documentary about a man who defends donkey rights! The film depicts the donkey as a very respectful animal and supported by the protagonist.

The festival was held on September 13-16, 2017, in Kermanshah.
