Iran’s Sadaf Asgari wins Best Actress at Italy fest

Iranian actress receives Best Actress award at Fiumicino Film Festival

Iran’s Sadaf Asgari has won the prize for Best Actress at the first Fiumicino Film Festival in Italy.

She took home the award for her role in ‘Disappearance’.

In the flick, Asgari plays a young lover who, on a deep-freeze winter night, wanders from one hospital to another pursuing help, in the company of her fiancé. They only got a few hours to tackle their problem while keeping their families in the dark, which affects their own relationship.

Written by Ali Asgari and co-screenwriter Farnoush Samadi, ‘Disappearance’ is the first feature-length film by Asgari, whose short films have competed in Venice and Cannes. The project was developed in the Cannes Cinefondation Residence and received a grant from the Doha Film Institute. It was produced in Iran.

Iranian actors Pedram Ansari, Mohammad Heidari, Amirreza Ranjbaran, Sahar Sotoudeh, and Nafiseh Zare have also starred in the feature.

The first edition of Fiumicino film festival was held September 22-24 in Fiumicino, Italy.
