Iranian scholar Leili Anvar, has been picked to chair the first Art Festival of EU Persian speakers.
The festival aims to further promote Persian art and culture worldwide.
The Iranian academic is Professor in Persian Language and Literature at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO), Paris, where she is also the Head of the Iranian Languages Department.
She holds a chronicle dedicated to literature and spirituality in the magazine Le monde des religions and co-hosts a weekly radio program on spiritual issues (France Culture).
Besides being an author, Anvar has also translated the best seller Rumi’s Masnavi and Attar’s “The conference of the Birds” to French.
The festival is organized by Persiana Arts & Culture Society, as part of its recent ongoing campaign to promote the several-thousand-year-old Persian culture. It comprises members from Iran, Tajikstan and Afghanistan, who speak Persian (Farsi).
The first edition of the Art Festival of EU Persian speakers will hold competition sections in sound, dubbing, standup comedy, visual arts and photography. The sideline will also host showcases and music concerts during the weeklong event, slated to be held in January 2018.
