The world renowned Spanish painter and sculptor Picasso’s wife may have hidden 300 artworks from family and the world, the media has reported.
Pierre Le Guennec is an old electrician who kept nearly 300 Pablo Picasso artworks in his garage for almost 40 years.
He has told a French appeal court the artist’s widow wanted him to hide the works from his family.
Le Guennec told the media that Jacqueline Picasso had problems with her stepson, Claude Ruiz Picasso.
Le Guennec was convicted last year with his wife of possessing stolen goods, saying that Picasso’s widow Jacqueline asked him to store between 15 and 17 rubbish bags containing artworks after he died in April 1973.
The 77-year-old, Le Guennec who was the Picassos’ handyman, had previously said that Picasso had given the artworks to him when he was still alive.
Born in 1881, Pablo Ruiz y Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century.
He died in April 1973 at the age of 92 in France.
