‘Alone among the Taliban’ wins Spanish documentary award

The 12th Marbella Int’l Film Festival in Spain honored Iranian documentary ‘Alone among the Taliban’.

The 12th edition of the Marbella International Film Festival in Spain has honored Iranian documentary ‘Alone among the Taliban’ directed by Mohsen Eslamzadeh.

The festival presented its Best Documentary Award to Mohsen Eslamzadeh's 'Alone among the Taliban' on Sunday.

The 65-minute documentary details the director’s 15-day stay among the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The doc is a joint production of Iran and Afghanistan, showing the filmmaker’s visits to people’s homes, the jails and courts, while conducting interviews with local authorities and documenting the way they think and govern their states.

The documentary has already garnered rave reviews and awards such as the best documentary award from the 44th edition of the Athens International Film and Video Festival (AIFVF) earlier this month in UN city of Ohio.

In its domestic screening, the film premiered at the ninth edition of Iran’s International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite, in December 2015, winning the International Shahid Avini Award for the Best Mid-Length Documentary.

Latest screening of Eslamzadeh’s production at the Marbella film festival marks its seventh international appearance.

Launched in 2006, the Marbella International Film Festival has been held in Marbella on the Costa del Sol in Spain to provide a venue for encouraging artists from all around the world.

The 12th edition of the Marbella International Film Festival was held on October 4-8, 2017.
