Japan film ‘Munekata Sisters’ to screen at Tehran museum

Japanese drama ‘The Munekata Sisters’ is to screen at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in the Iranian capital.

Japanese drama ‘The Munekata Sisters’ has been scheduled to screen at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) in the Iranian capital.

Prominent Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu’s 1950 film will go on screen at the cinematheque of the TMCA at 5 pm Tehran time on Sunday, October 15.

The Japanese drama is about Setsuko, who is unhappily married to Mimura, an engineer with no job and a bad drinking habit, but she is still in love with Hiroshi, who has left Japan a few years ago.

The screening will be followed by a review session by Iranian film critic Majid Eslami.

The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art regularly screens international films to the public.

TMCA also plays host to works by many noble western artists, including Claude Monet, Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Donald Judd, Andy Warhol, René Magritte, Duane Hanson and Chuck Close.
