Watch ifilm's exclusive report on the Iranian feature film ‘Negar’ directed by Rambod Javan.
The following are highlights of the report.
ifilm: Today we’re going to look at a movie that is totally different from the other movies that have been made in the cinema industry of Iran so far. The movie is called ‘Negar’ and is directed by Rambod Javan.
Rambod Javan, director and producer: Thank God! Everything went well and we made it. It meant a lot to us that we could accomplish this project without giving up. At times, we were worried that the audience wouldn’t be able to grasp the story and the connections that exist among the incidents. As a result we’d decide to interpret it or give up but then again we would hold back. In the beginning the movie was more radical. At times some incidents were supposed to happen that had no explanations at all.
On the other hand, we didn’t want to explain every detail to the audience; we didn’t want to say that by this, we mean this or that. We gradually reached a balance for recounting our story. It was an interesting experience.
ifilm: Sometimes the audience can’t click with the movie, no matter how good the movie is and this is very scary for a filmmaker. And that’s why we say that the movie ‘Negar’ is very different.
Javan: Never! I’m not scared not now and not until the end of my life.
I believe that everyone has their own talents, me, you and everyone else. I can have a filmmaking company, a studio or a place for making programs for television, a huge team for coming up with ideas or a team to gather up the output we receive from social media. All of these are expertise and I want to make use of them. They are instruments for production, for interaction and cooperation. Moreover a remarkable number of our colleagues come and work. A considerable number of artists and youths who want to enter the profession can come and experience little by little.
