Sofia MENAR Film Festival to screen Iranian movie ‘A Long Day’

Iranian movie ‘A Long Day’ is to go on screen at the 9th Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Iranian movie ‘A Long Day’ (Yek Rouz-e Toulani) has been scheduled to go on screen at the 9th edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

The festival’s website recently announced that the flick will go on screen of the Feature Films section in two sessions, including in the Cultural Center on January 16 and in the Euro Cinema on January 20.

Produced, directed and written by Babak Bahram-Beygi in 2016, the film tells the story Shaheen. Having returned to the country after years, she pays a short visit to his hometown and unwittingly becomes involved with one of his brother's business adventures. The brother is trying to find a way out of his problems and resolve the issues, but he faces a new dimension of the story that puts him on a dilemma.

Iranian actors Reza Behboudi, Shabnam Moqaddami, Alireza Ara, Morteza Youneszadeh, and Baran Ebrahimi star in the 88-minute ‘A Long Day’.

The event has also dedicated a section to pay tribute to late acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

The festival have so far screened a number of Iranian films, including ‘Stolen’ directed by Bijan Mirbaqeri, ‘Crazy Castle’ directed by Abolhassan Davoudi, and ‘Breath’ directed by Narges Abyar.

Sofia MENAR Film Festival makes Bulgarian audiences familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islamic world, the website of the festival wrote.

The program of Sofia MENAR Film Festival presents the best of Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.

The event has launched on Thursday and will continue until January 29.
