ICOM selects new moto for World Museum Day 2018

International Council of Museums (ICOM) has picked new motto for International Museum Day 2018.

According to a media report released Friday, ICOM chose ‘Interwoven Museums: New Approaches, New People’ as the new motto of International Museum Day 2018, which is celebrated on May 18th next year around the world.

Today, it is impossible to understand the role of museums without regard to the links they create, ICOM said regarding the naming of the new motto, adding that museums are a main and vital part of society

All museums today are encouraged to find new approaches and audiences by exploring, strengthening and building links and connections, the body elaborated.

International Museum Day has been celebrated annually since 1977.

Last year, nearly 35,000 museums from 145 countries marked the day with activities and occasions.

Iran is home to a great number of museums and art galleries. Every year, the IMD is celebrated at the country’s museums and art centers nationwide.
