S. Korea, Iran showcase Iranian, Korean handicrafts, treasure

A wide range of Iranian handicrafts are on display in Seoul, South Korea.

A wide range of Iranian handicrafts has been put on display at an exhibition titled ‘Amazing Hands: Craft Art from Iran’ in Seoul, South Korea.

Large number of cultural officials, diplomats and artists from Iran and South Korea recently attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition in Seoul’s KF Gallery.

Woodworks, enamel-decorated bowls and jugs, indigenous personal ornamentations, marquetry designs, potteries, ceramics, semi-precious stones and embossed metal works, as well as other forms of handicrafts are among the showcased items.

The exhibition has been set to commemorate a year of cultural exchanges between the two countries, Iranian embassy and South Korean foreign ministry announced earlier this month.

Moreover, the National Museum of Iran in downtown Tehran has put a number of historical relics, associated with South Korea’s Silla treasure, on display.

Titled ‘Silla and Persia, a common memory’, the exhibit opened its doors to the public on November 4. More than 140 items, borrowed from the Gyeongju National Museum, are on display during the 41-day event in Tehran.

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization commemorated 2017 as the Year of Korea-Iran Cultural Exchange.
