Iranian director Hossein Shahabi’s new film ‘Conditional Release’ tackles a social subject that has never been dealt with before in Iranian Cinema, the director says.
In an ifilm exclusive interview with the Iranian director, Shahabi touched on the difficult subject of criminals being released into the public after their term served in prison.
“While writing the screenplays for my last two movies, I found out that there is a hidden matter with regards to legal issues. I haven’t seen anyone working on it in Iran and even in other countries,” the prominent director said.
‘Conditional Release’ has recently hit the silver screen in Iranian cinemas. The story of the film is about parole, which the director said is a continuation of legal issues from his previous films, but with a different storyline.
“It’s about being released on bail and the difficult conditions set for parole. I chose it as my subject. The problems prisoners have to deal with after they’re released. We chose this as our theme,” he noted.
The film stars Shaghayegh Farahani, Leila Otadi, Amir-Reza Delavari and Diba Zahedi, among others.
