Tehran Art Academy holds Indian music workshop

Tehran Academy of Arts has managed to hold two workshops on a kind of Indian traditional music known as raga.

The first workshop will be held on December 8 at 08:00 a.m. Sarod virtuoso Pandit Ranajit Sengupta, tabla player Kousik Banerjee and tambura player Anik Chakraborty will run the first workshop

The second workshop will be held on December 9 at 10 a.m. The workshops are open to the public.

Raga is akin to a melodic mode in Indian classical music. Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "color the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience.
