Four Iran short films to be screened at Slamdance filmfest

Four Iranian short films are to vie at the Slamdance Film Festival in the US.

Some four Iranian short films have been selected to vie at the Slamdance Film Festival in the US.

‘Animal’ directed by Bahman and Bahram Ark, ‘Abbas Kiarostami; Director’ by Mohsen Khodabakhshi, Behnam Abedi’s ‘Whales’ and short animation ‘Ascribed Achievements’ directed by Samaneh Shojaei are the films to vie at the 24th edition of the US event.

‘Animal’ depicts the story of a man who wants to pass the border illegally; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

‘Abbas Kiarostami; Director’ is about late legendary Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

‘Whales’ narrates the story of a soldier who is sent to a village to investigate the case of seven drowned bodies found ashore. The soldier happens to know one of the bodies.

‘Ascribed Achievements’ tells the story of an old boy, who is dissatisfied with his inborn appearance and decides to end his life. But his failed suicide leads to a new situation in his life.

Launched in 1995, the Slamdance Film Festival is an annual film festival focused on emerging artists and low-budget independent films.

The Slamdance has since developed to become a year-round organization fostering the continued career development of independent filmmakers at all stages of the creative process, consisting of the Film Festival, Screenplay Competition, and Slamdance Studios.
