Victor Hugo’s famous novel ‘Les Miserable’ goes on stage in Iran historic city of Kashan.

French famous novelist’s masterpiece ‘Les Miserables’ has been set to go on stage in the Iranian historic city of Kashan.

The famous world masterpiece is currently on stage of the Farhang Hall in Kashan, Isfahan province.

Victor Hugo (1802-1885) is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers.  He was active in the fields of poetry, novel, and drama.

‘Les Miserables’ depicts the story of Jean Valjean who is imprisoned for 19 years. After his release by Jean Javert , the officer in charge of the prison workforce,  Valjean promptly breaks parole but later uses money from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor and factory owner.

Javert vows to arrest Valjean and send him to prison again. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette after her mother’s death but Javert pursues him firmly.

The play will remain on stage in Kashan through December 26.
