No regrets for kids flick ‘Chocolate’ director

Iranian director of children’s flick ‘Chocolate’ says he has paid his dues to children while making his first film.

Iranian director of children’s flick ‘Chocolate’ says he has paid his dues to children while making his first film.

Soheyl Movaffaq revealed in an ifilm exclusive report on the Iranian feature film ‘Chocolate’ that he chose to make the movie for children as his first major cinematic project.

“I began my career with programs for children. Due to this, it might seem a bit stereotypical, but I can’t put it in another way: I wanted to pay my dues to children’s cinema,” Movaffaq said.

He went on to compare children’s viewing experience today to a generation ago.

“I don’t know what children are going to see in the cinema halls. Movies we had for children when we were kids don’t exist anymore. So, my friends and I came to maybe contribute to children’s cinema a bit. I hope so,” he noted.

‘Chocolate’ was produced by Iraj Mohammadi, starring Arzhang Amir-Fazli, Alireza Masoudi and Mohammad-Reza Shirkhanlou.
