Iran film ‘The Salesman’ sits among Guardian’s 2017 top films

Mega-famous Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s film ‘The Salesman’ has been added to UK daily The Guardian’s 2017 list of top movies.

Farhadi’s Oscar-winning film ‘The Salesman’ was selected as number 17 of 50 top movies on US screens curated by The Guardian.

Recently, Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ won a spot among best 2017 movies chosen by US review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

The film tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.

The movie won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards in 2017 as well as grabbing double awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival a year before the Oscar achievement.

Farhadi had also won an Oscar in the foreign language category for his 2011 film ‘A Separation’.
